christmas edition 2022
Welcome to our first Technology newsletter! We are aiming to publish termly, so our next edition will be Easter 2023.
We aim to use this newsletter to showcase all the wonderful projects that our students are involved in over the course of a term. As you can see, we have some very creative students.

ks4 GRAPHICS
Year 10 were tasked with solving a design problem over 3 lessons. The challenge was to design and create a product that could hold a takeaway coffee cup and biscuits in one hand.

KS3 technology
A super outcome from Samuel P in Ms Rua’s Year 7 RM class. Students had to research, design and manufacture a Wooden Animal using hand tools and equipment. Key focus was on technical skill and character building, especially creativity, curiosity and determination. Well done Sam!

Year 7 students researched and then designed bag logos using the 2D computer aided design programme to promote the message of Sustainability. Here are some great ideas by Ivy, Ava, Amy and Hannah.

Year 9 have made a strong start to their shipping containers. This is Matilda’s who is creating a 1:

Year 10 have made a great effort at completing orthographic style scale drawings of their phones. The concentration in the room was so intense; you could hear a pin drop!

Students produced playdough models of male and female reproductive systems. They annotated their models to show functions of each part.

Year 8 enjoyed polishing up their nature themed pewter keyrings before half term and are now developing some eye-catching suspension packaging to present them in!

KS4 Product Design
Practicing their Graphics Skills, here is a skilled Isometric drawing example from Isaac in Ms Rua’s Year 9 Product design class. Students had a 30 minute timed task to sketch the wooden puzzle they will be making using hand tools. Students had to use the crating method to begin with to achieve an accurate outcome.

Year 10 Product Design students were tasked with redesigning the interior of a shipping container 1:20 scale. This is Oscar’s branded ‘Containarium’, aquarium.

KS3 Food & Nutrition
The year 7s have been thinking about how to reduce food waste in lesson. Each group were given a selection of commonly wasted foods and asked to create a masterpiece! Some of the delights included a stir fry, sushi and soup.

Year 8 Shepherd’s pie in 2 lessons.
This lesson focused on bridge and claw cutting techniques using a chef’s knife and dry frying the mince and making the base ready for the next lesson, where they will prepare the mashed potato.

Year 11 have been completing the technical skills dishes for their NEAs and the year 10s have been working on their presentation.
