Music
Curriculum Intent
Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. Our high-quality music education seeks to engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and develop their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of accomplishment. Students at Warden Park will perform, listen to and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions. They will learn how to use their voices as well as how to create and compose music on their own and with others. They will have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and to use technology in developing their musical practice.
How is Music delivered at Warden Park?
Students study Music in Key Stage 3 and have two hours per fortnight, in a dedicated Music suite.
At Key Stage 4 students can choose to continue their study of music by undertaking GCSE Music. Students will have 5 lessons per fortnight. Students also have access to dedicated music practice rooms to develop their performance and musical aspirations.
We encourage all students to take part in the concerts and productions throughout the year. The range of music genres on display at these events is rich and diverse.
