COMPUTER SCIENCE
Curriculum Intent
The Computer Science Department aims to deliver a curriculum which will empower students to make informed decisions and choices with regard to their KS4 options in Year 8 and equip them for a digital world inside and outside of school. The curriculum will encourage and develop independence and curiosity in students at the Academy.
Our units of work will incorporate the opportunity for students to:
- carry out research and explore in order to underpin their digital journey
- problem solve and be creative
- further develop their interests in one or some of the following three strands; computer science, business & admin or digitally creative
- use digital technology as an enabler for independent work across the curriculum i.e. transferable skills and empowerment
- show grit and resilience when considering the “big picture” and thinking “outside the box”.
